Frequently Asked Questions

Hemisfair Rules

Pets are welcome at Hemisfair! Please keep them leashed, clean up their business. Pets are allowed to enjoy The Springs in Civic Park, but they are not permitted to be in the Union Pacific Railroad Splash Pad in Yanaguana Garden. There are Mutt Mitt stations in both parks with disposable bags for your use.

Hemisfair and all San Antonio parks are tobacco- and smoke-free as of June 1, 2019 according to City ordinance.

Feel free to enjoy wine or beer in a can or container while visiting. For the safety of all park guests, no liquor or glass bottles, please.

As a courtesy to others enjoying the park experience, please keep loud music to a minimum.

Riding bicycles, scooters and skateboards are prohibited on the sidewalks in our three parks. These modes of transportation are only allowed on roadways in the Hemisfair District.

Fireworks, open flames, barbecue grills and piñatas are prohibited.

Outside food is permitted and picnics are encouraged! Forgot your snack? Check out one of our onsite destinations.

You must have permission from Hemisfair to set up and sell things within the district, even donation based. If you’re selling food items, you must have a permit from the city as well. You will be asked to leave if permission is not granted.

The Union Pacific Railroad Splash Pad is open every day during the season from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm. It closes from November to March.

Hemisfair parking is available at several lots located nearby. Please be courteous of other drivers and cautious of pedestrians (especially little ones) while you search for parking. Be aware that parking rates and availability vary with special events.

School Groups

Whether you’re taking in a show at the Magik Theatre or planning a field trip to play at Yanaguana Garden, let us know if your school group is heading to Hemisfair. It’s not necessary to tell us ahead of time, but we’re always interested in which schools are stopping by, how many visitors we can expect and how we can make your experience delightful. Shoot us an email at info@hemisfair.org.
