Here’s some of what we’re doing to help our planet:
Reducing the Heat Island Effect:
Heat Islands are urbanized areas that experience higher temperatures than outlying areas. We’re reducing the Heat Island Effect by planting more trees in Downtown San Antonio.
Utilizing Sustainable Water Practices:
We’re utilizing Nuisance Water from under the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center for irrigation and use in the water features in Civic Park – ensuring that the park will remain green even during a drought.
Protecting Pollinator Populations:
Dill, Fennel, Mexican Sage, Hollyhock, and Native Milkweed are just a few of the plants you can find in our Host Garden. We’ve picked specific herbs and flowers that caterpillars love to snack on and butterflies use to lay their eggs – giving them their own special place to enjoy in Yanaguana Garden.
