Hemisfair Looks Forward to Opening Bombay Bicycle Club at Yanaguana Garden

Hemisfair is excited to welcome Bombay Bicycle Club to Yanaguana Garden’s portfolio of local businesses following a competitive solicitation process. The restaurant and bar will open its second location in the historic Espinoza House, tentatively slated for Spring 2023. Bombay Bicycle Club first opened in San Antonio in 1973 and is known for its laid-back atmosphere, margaritas and classic American menu.

“We welcome a business that captures the playful spirit of Yanaguana Garden while exemplifying the community and culture that’s unique to San Antonio,” said Andres Andujar, CEO of Hemisfair. “We’re excited to partner with Bombay Bicycle Club and further expand Hemisfair’s offerings for parkgoers and the surrounding neighborhoods.”

Bombay Bicycle Club partners Bill Leighton and Satchie Seidlits have teamed up with Paula Sullivan of Carmen’s de la Calle for Bombay Bicycle Club’s Hemisfair location. The team will highlight the best of both with a menu featuring Carmen’s incredible, globally inspired empanadas and Bombay’s famous burgers.

“For over 15 years, I’ve been searching for just the right spot to launch a second location, and the Espinoza House is where the park meets the city,” Leighton said. “Hemisfair is the most exciting project in town— in the state, for that matter. Why wouldn’t you want to join a group that measures their success by the volume of laughter in Yanaguana Garden?”

Sprinkle & Co. Architects has been retained by Bombay Bicycle Club to design its expansion at Hemisfair. The 1,464-square-foot Espinoza House, located at 607 Hemisfair Blvd., features a large covered porch, shotgun-style construction and a spacious wooden deck shared with CommonWealth Coffeehouse & Bakery. The building is adjacent to the Union Pacific Railroad Splash Pad, The ‘68 Apartments and hundreds of public parking spaces in the new Hemisfair Garage.

The 4.1-acre Yanaguana Garden attracts over 600,000 visitors annually, making it one of the busiest parks per-acre in Texas. Bombay Bicycle Club joins other local businesses who shape the Hemisfair family, including Chocollazo & Sugar Sugar, CommonWealth Coffeehouse & Bakery, Dough Pizzeria Napoletana, EnergyX Fitness, Lick Honest Ice Creams, Magik Theatre, Paleteria San Antonio and The ‘68 Apartments.
