DESCRIPTION:Join us for the next edition of Courtside Conversations\, a community speaker series held directly on the Red McCombs Community Court at Hemisfair.\n\nThis candid conversation explores how civic engagement extends far beyond politics; taking shape through community involvement\, public spaces\, local businesses\, passion projects\, volunteerism\, advocacy\, mentorship\, and the everyday people who invest in the places they care about most.\n\nDrawing from personal experiences growing up in his parents’ record shop on the west side of San Antonio\, Senator José Menéndez reflects on how community connection\, entrepreneurship\, and first and foremost\, a passion for helping people shaped an unplanned path toward civic leadership and public service.\n\nIn this interactive conversation for the community\, we will explore how anyone can make a meaningful impact not only through public office\, but through participation\, creativity\, relationship building\, service\, and showing up for their city and community.\n\nNo form of participation in civic engagement is too small. Just like basketball\, every position and contribution is important for the win. Because strong communities are not built by politics\, they are built by people who care enough to get involved.\n\nCommunity resources will be at Courtside Conversations for attendees to learn about different civic engagement opportunities.
