SAN ANTONIO – It’s down to the wire for crews putting the final touches on a New Year’s Eve extravaganza at Hemisfair Park.
About 250,000 people are expected to ring in the new year at “Celebrate San Antonio.”
The celebration, which starts at 6 p.m., takes place downtown on South Alamo Street between Market and Cesar Chavez streets.
The fun will include several stages of live music, carnival games, rides and plenty of food. The gala culminates with a huge fireworks display at midnight.
Organizers said they’ve been planning all year for the gala and wanted to make sure it’s a family-oriented event.
“I think it’s the safe environment that the city of San Antonio helps us create for partygoers to come out, enjoy the festival atmosphere in a safe environment and bring the whole family,” Noah Almanza, president and CEO of the San Antonio Parks Foundation, said.
Revelers planning on driving to the big party are urged to download Pango, the city of San Antonio app, which includes a list of places to park downtown.
