Paleteria San Antonio Celebrates First Year of Operation

Paleteria San Antonio is excited to announce its first year of operation with a big celebration.

The event is being held Saturday, June 10, from 12-2pm at their Yanaguana Garden location, 510 South Alamo #104. The event will feature buy-one, get-one-free paletas, and Paleteria San Antonio t-shirts for sale. Buying a t-shirt will also score you a free agua fresca and a boozy paleta made in fun cocktail flavors.

From their location inside historic Pereida House at Hemisfair’s Yanaguana Garden, Paleteria San Antonio has spent the last year building a profitable business, an authentic brand, and an ever-growing repertoire of flavors with more than 70 varieties and counting, including Passion Fruit, Mangonada, and Tamarindo. In their first year, Paleteria San Antonio sold more than 60,000 paletas – about 165 per day! Owner-operators Joey and Cecy Rodriguez have also made a splash around town, distributing their handmade ice-pops at weddings, birthday parties, and the Briscoe Western Art Museum to the approbation of the community.

The long-term vision of Hemisfair includes the restoration of 22 more historic properties, with the goal of curating more small-businesses like Paleteria San Antonio that appeal to locals, generate funding for improvements to public parks at Hemisfair through lease revenues, and add vibrancy to the district. Soon, Hemisfair will add Dough Pizzeria, Commonwealth Coffeehouse & Bakery and a new bar and restaurant – Con Safos – to its roster of tenants. Future phases of redevelopment at Hemisfair will offer new opportunities for tenancy in the years to come including historic properties and new developments.
