Paleteria San Antonio serves up tasty ice pops and ice cream made with real ingredients

As part of its ongoing commitment to develop local businesses, Hemisfair is pleased to announce the Grand Opening of Paleteria San Antonio, the first tenant in the newly redeveloped Yanaguana Garden.

The Grand Opening will kick off Tuesday, June 7 from 5:00-6:30pm at the historic Pereida House in Yanaguana Garden. The event will feature music, a chance to mingle with the Paleteria San Antonio owners and operators and, of course, tons of tasty frozen treats! Artisanal paletas from dozens of flavors will be available for free. Guests can choose from tamarindo, bubblegum, lime, watermelon and lucas, peaches and cream and many, many more. Paleteria San Antonio’s event will coincide with PechaKucha 22 happening later that same evening. Event goers can enjoy free paletas while supplies last.

Palateria San Antonio is a new business from Joey and Cecy Rodriguez. As local business owners with an interest in both elevating and preserving culinary heritage in San Antonio, the husband-and-wife team bring an attention to quality, fresh ingredients and exciting new flavor combinations to all of their ice pops. All of their paletas are crafted with fresh fruit prepared by hand and frozen in small batches. Many varieties feature organic ingredients.

Part of Pereida House was awarded to Palateria San Antonio in a public process that sought tenants for historic homes in Hemisfair. The remainder of the house is leased to San Antonio B-Cycle. Both businesses are fully moved into the space and operating regularly. A forthcoming Request for Interest (RFI) will highlight additional historic homes within Hemisfair, who encourages interested parties to respond with their ideas for park activating businesses like restaurants, cafes and shops.
